Last post of 2007

Here is the last post of 2007. I can't believe that this year has come and gone already. Where does the time go? 2007 was a fun year for us. The boys played a lot of sports and because of that we built some great friendships. Justin and Chris made some huge adjustments by starting new schools, I started a new job. Patty (my awesome mother in law) kicked some cancer butt again this year. Toby was successful in one of his hunts and Gracie is just learning new things everyday.

I hope and pray that 2008 will bring us more enjoyment and continuation of our friendships.

Everyone have fun tonight and be safe. Happy New Year!

Dear Target,

I know it has been over 10 days since I last visited. Do you even remember me? I can barely remember the feel of your molded plastic handle of the cart, the funny people who work there and ask me if I need any help finding something....I could help them find things. I'm going to have to visit you just because. I have no items that I need, but I'm sure you'll have something I want. Oh, how I have missed you.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas eve we had Toby's family over for the Jacobson Family Christmas. We always have Mexican food and play white elephant,we then normally have some sort of gift exchange. This year Roger, the oldest sibling, brought a buzzer game. This game was the hit of the night. Here are two clips I took with my camera. They start off sideways and then should right themselves. We had 22 people in our home that night and we sure enjoyed ourselves. The first video shows Roger, Toby, Cody and Rob playing and the second is Roger, Chris, Justin and Scott.

Brownie Rubbers

I just had a conversation with Mitch and Chris about their shopping trip with Dad last night. I asked they what made them choose the items they bought. Mitchell then asks Chris "Why didn't you get the brownie rubber?" I just about lost it, but wanted to see where this conversation was headed.
Me: "What's a brownie rubber?
Chris: "You know the blue cupcake pans you have?"
Me: "Yes, the silicone ones?"
Chris: "At Target they have ones that say Hershey on the bottom when you bake brownies"

Shees, what were you thinking?

12 Days of Christmas

Last week when I came home from work I found a large box filled with paper bags and one pretty gift bag at my front door. I found these instructions attached to the large wrapped box: THIS PACKAGE BRINGS GOOD WISHES FOR THE NEXT TWELVE DAYS IN A ROW. PLEASE OPEN ONE A DAY TO FIND SURPRISES IN TOW. YOU COULD CHEAT AND GO TO THE END TO FIND OUT WHERE THIS IS FROM......BUT WE HOPE YOU PLAY ALONG WITH US TO ENJOY THE SURPRISE AND THE FUN!!!!!!

Ok, so do you know how hard it is not to peak at the end, but we are going to hold and play along. It is fun to hear each of us guess who it is. I'm going to list the note and gift item found in each bag. I would love to do this activity next year, so this will give me a safe place to keep my notes. I will try to update as the days go on, but for sure will list everything and who it is from. If "you" are out there reading this.....we are having a fun with this game. Here we go.....

On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....a partridge in a pear tree! Here's the first treat, enjoy this fun activity and take time to smile!

On the second day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....two turtle doves!
(Being "turtle" doves, they couldn't make it here on time, so they sent this replacement instead....share this treat!)

On the third day of Christmas my true love gave to me....three French hens! (UPS wouldn't deliver them live, so here's a replacement, yummy!)

On the fourth day of Christmas my true love gave to me....four calling birds! ( Preferring to shout to each other while they flew, the birds all have sore throats. Hope this heals you....)

On the fifth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me.....five golden rings!!!(These aren't really gold, but they are rings!!! A real LIFESAVER!)

On the sixth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....six geese a laying! (these amazing geese laid special eggs-chocolate goodies-ENJOY!)(The chocolate eggs were inside a 1/2 egg carton)
On the seventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me....seven swans a swimming! (I know what your thinking.."a swimming pool, they're giving us a swimming pool!! Sorry, but hope this dessert is yummy and you can find some fruit or treats to "swim" in it!)

On the eighth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, eight maids a milking! Cows these days have such a good diet, the milk comes in cans with Vitamin D added! Go figure! Happy Baking!

We some how lost the little poem that went with the ninth day of Christmas. However the box of calgon will help me with the end of this Christmas season.

On the tenth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, ten lords a leaping! (After a hard day of leaping a lord may need this! If you are hurting, we wish you good health!)

On the eleventh day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, eleven pipers piping! ( All of their music lessons have paid off! Here's their first CD! Enjoy some Christmas Eve music!)

On the twelfth day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, twelve drummers drumming! (Unfortunately, these guys didn't stick with their lessons and never made it big like the pipers! May YOUR Christmas be filled with Peace in our homes, in our hearts and in our world.! Let's have a toast!)

It was revealed that the Dorsey's were our "true loves". Thank you so much for the fun games and memories. Toby guessed correctly! We are going to pass this tradition on next year to some other unexpected family!

A Charlie Brown Christmas 2007

Last night Into Theatre presented A Charlie Brown Christmas. This performance benefits a homeless school here in the valley. We had a great turn out in the audience and the performers were wonderful. Snoopy stole the show, but Pig Pen was awfully cute too. Thanks for all our friends and family who came and supported Mitchell.

I'm going to be getting a disk full of photos from the performance at the school and of last night. So watch out for photo updates.

Even Grandpa won a Charlie Brown Christmas tree.

Ramblings

I'm trying to come up with a fun post, but I'm to tired.

Toby went hunting for Sunday and Monday. He came home very disappointed and elkless. Oh, well. I love you honey, but I'm glad its all over.

I love the rain, but it is making the baseball season drag out. We should have finished up awhile ago, but we are to play tomorrow however, it is pouring outside right now and I wonder if the fields will be dry enough. We have commitments for this weekend and will not be able to play if this tournament drags into Saturday.

Slowly finishing up my Christmas shopping. I'm starting to think about Christmas Eve when I'm hosting 20+ people. All family, so I know they won't be to hard on me, but I want to create a fun and festive atmosphere.

Granny is looking and feeling better. We spent a few hours with her yesterday and she looked good.

Off to go watch the rain come down...again.

High School Newsletter

I just got Justin's school newsletter by email. Wow, I'm still not ready for this whole high school thing. I'm off to try to bleach my brain of invisioning my son and his friends doing these kind of dances.

INAPPROPRIATE DANCING
Like many high schools in the valley, Marcos chooses to have dances sponsored by various classes to promote school spirit and
also to give our students something to do on a Saturday night. We have just celebrated our homecoming football game and with
it—our Homecoming Dance.
As a new assistant principal in the district, I wanted to take a proactive approach to the dancing that occurs by some at school
dances. The term we are calling it is “dirty dancing.” By definition, it is when students tend to grind on each other while dancing.
I realize that times have changed and so, too, does dancing. The goal here is to make students aware that there is a point
where dancing becomes too sexual in nature and it needs to stop. I am continuing some practices begun by the administration
before me, as well as instituting some new ones. When your sons and daughters come to a dance, I want them to have a good
time, but within the limits of our school rules. This is not a dance club; therefore, our expectations are different. In short,
though the music may have changed over time, all dance styles must comply with standards of modesty and safety. The faculty
and administrators in attendance will be the final judge of the appropriateness of dance style.
◙ Inappropriate dancing includes, but is not limited to, the following: slam dancing,
moshing, freaking or booty dancing (including prone, crotch-to-crotch, and “sandwich”
dancing), or otherwise inappropriate or dangerous dancing.
◙ If a student continues to dirty dance, we will remove that student. In addition, we are in
the process of creating a video of what is acceptable and not acceptable when it comes to
dancing. (I will post it on our website so you as a parent can see what we have shown
your student.)
Our goal is always the same: to promote our code of respect and responsibility of all, in and out of the classroom.

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Grace, Kylie, Shelley and I went to Build A Bear today and made Rudolph. Grace couldn't have cared less. I think I rush her into doing things that she is just to little to understand. I could have saved myself the money, but I had fun. Here she is after her nap with her Rudolph.

Thanks to Shelley for this photo.
