I didn't need that finger anyways....

Saturday morning I took Mitchell to baseball practice and met Shelley for 2 wonderful kid free hours.Shelley and I went shopping. I called home to see if Toby had seen a particular movie and heard Gracie screaming in the background. I asked what she was screaming about. He told me her finger got caught in Justin's bike and the fire fighters were there. I told him don't let them amputate before I get home. I thought he was so joking. Nope. He wasn't. The story goes like this:

Chris was vacuuming in his bedroom and Grace was playing with Justin's bike that sitting on the floor upside down. Toby was getting the water ready for mopping and heard Chris yell for him. Toby thought Grace was just bothering him by being on the top bunk bed so he didn't hurry. When he got there he found Gracie's middle finger caught between the sprocket and chain. She must have been playing with the chain and moved the pedal which pulled her finger onto the sprocket. Toby knew that he wasn't able to get her free by himself so he had Justin call 911. Firefighters and paramedics came and cut the chain to release her finger. Luckily there was no permanent damage and all is OK. Toby says he was glad I didn't have to see her finger like that.

No pictures for this post. I told them that they should have taken some and Justin started laughing saying "I told you she would blog about this". You were about that Justin!

Thanksgiving 2007

What a fun day we had. We decided to go to Grandma's house on Wednesday night so that we could help out early on Thursday. Jen and Rob set up a tee time of 10am and we also knew there was no way we could make that if we weren't already in town.

Boys loved golfing. From our conversations I gather the golf carts were the most fun. Thanks Jen and Rob!

We had a delicious dinner when the golfers came home. Grandma out did herself with turkey, ham and all the fixings. Roger fried a turkey for us and it was incredible. After dinner we gathered on the patio and chatted.
Boys got some Turkey Day football in and Grace roamed the garden. We even had a hummingbird join in on the fun.

Pumpkin Rolls and Oprah

Today was a good day. Sort of. It started out kind of odd, but got better. I recieved a phone call from my grandmother's life line. She had fallen, but was not hurt and Toby and I were able to get to her quickly. My mom took her to the dr. and has more appointments lined up for her.

After I dropped Mitchell off at school I headed over to Shelley's to make Pumpkin Roll. Ok, let me just tell you how good this treat is. It is a pumpkin cake with cream cheese filling. One word. YUMMY. We made it last year together so I thought it would be fun to make it together again this year. Now when I say we, I mean mostly Shelley. I did open a few cream cheese boxes, but Shelley did most of the baking. I only hope there is still some when I get home from work tonight.

Oprah had her "Favorite Things" show today. I have not watched the whole episode yet, but I did see her second to last item. Josh Groban's Noel CD. I love Josh. I have been a fan of his for 4 years now. I was first introduced to him by my mother, who was introduced to his music after my father passed away. I just love his voice. What a treat to see him singing on a Tuesday afternoon on Oprah. By the way, I suggest you buy the Christmas album. You can get it at any major store or on itunes. I think I will be listening to this CD now for the next few weeks.

Happy Birthday Jman

Justin,

As I sit here and write this you are in the backyard with about 20 of your friends. I am scared to think of what you and your friends are talking about out there cause, I know what 15 year olds think and talk about. I have faith that you are making smart choices and I also know that you are going to make mistakes. I only hope your mistakes aren't so big that we you can't learn and grow from them.

I was so afraid of sending you off in to the big scary world a few years ago,but now I see you with all your new friends and I can see you are growing into a fine young man and a good friend.

Happy Birthday Bud. I love you.

Trick or Treat

Our first stop..Granny and Grandma Fern's house.
Brothers getting ready for a fun night.

Halloween 07 has come and gone and I'm ok with that. I like Halloween, but Thanksgiving and Christmas are my holidays, and with Halloween in the past that means my days are coming. We had a fun time on Wednesday night Trick or Treating with Kylie and Shelley who called late afternoon and asked if they could join us. Always!

Grace wore her Cinderella dress made by Grandma Jake (note to self...get photo of the two of them with the dress) while she was kicking some cancer butt. This dress will go in the memory box. Grace didn't really want to wear a costume, but, once she realized people were giving her candy she didn't mind.

Boys made home made costumes. Christopher recycled his Scream outfit, Justin went as a "Raver"...someone who goes to raves. He also had a bunch of glow sticks and Mitch was a SWAT team member.

My neighborhood sort of disappointed me. In the past we have had lots of kids trick or treating, but this year seemed sort of blah. Kids had fun and I guess that's what matters.
