I love having my mom and grandmother living just a few blocks away. I love the fact that my children can ride their bikes to Grandma's house.
We took this picture of the 4 generations a few weeks ago. One place you can not hide age is in the hands.
I will cherish this photo forever.

Surprise
I have been having some major computer problems and I have figured out a way to post here. My PC needs a new video card and since it is an older computer Fry's Electronics doesn't carry it in stock. We haven't had the extra cash flow to put into it anyways. I moved the Mac out of Mitchell's room and poof...here we are. I can't do much on this machine, but looks like I can blog again. I know you were all missing that!
Ok, I wasn't planning on this working so I am going to find some things to blog about and will be back soon.

Super Bowl Party
We went to a home of friends from baseball to celebrate the Cardinals being in the Superbowl. There were probably close to 50 people there all together and did we have fun.
This is Saifha, our excited and gracious host.
I just love her.
Here is someone else I love. She is a faithful lurker of my blog and I know she has always wanted to be on here. Susan enjoying the game. Look at all that food that was there. We ended up bringing home some chicken wings (which were gone before 9:30) and some pulled pork. I guess my friends know that good food won't go to waste at my home. The boys will eat just about anything.
This backyard was set up for the kids to enjoy the day too.

The game was fun to watch with a disappointing ending for us. The Cardinal Fan doesn't know how to react to losing something this big. It's our first time. I think the Cards played a good, clean game and it was a fun to cheer on the home town. Now if those Suns would give us something to cheer about.....

KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL
KURTIS THE STOCK BOY AND BRENDA THE CHECKOUT GIRL In a supermarket, Kurtis the stock boy, was busily working when a new voice came over the loud speaker asking for a carry out at register 4. Kurtis was almost finished, and wanted to get some fresh air, and decided to answer the call. As he approached the check-out stand a distant smile caught his eye, the new check-out girl was beautiful. She was an older woman (maybe 26, and he was only 22) and he fell in love. Later that day, after his shift was over, he waited by the punch clock to find out her name. She came into the break room, smiled softly at him, took her card and punched out, then left. He looked at her card, BRENDA. He walked out only to see her start walking up the road. Next day, he waited outside as she left the supermarket, and offered her a ride home. He looked harmless enough, and she accepted.
When he dropped her off, he asked if maybe he could see her again, outside of work. She simply said it wasn't possible. He pressed and she explained she had two children and she couldn't afford a baby-sitter, so he offered to pay for the baby-sitter. Reluctantly she accepted his offer for a date for the following Saturday. That Saturday night he arrived at her door only to have her tell him that she was unable to go with him. The baby-sitter had called and canceled. To which Kurtis simply said, "Well, let's take the kids with us." She tried to explain that taking the children was not an option, but again not taking no for an answer, he pressed. Finally Brenda, brought him inside to meet her children. She had an older daughter who was just as cute as a bug, Kurtis thought, then Brenda brought out her son, in a wheelchair. He was born a paraplegic with Down Syndrome. Kurtis asked Brenda, "I still don't understand why the kids can't come with us?" Brenda was amazed. Most men would run away from a woman with two kids, especially if one had disabilities -just like her first husband and father of her children had done. Kurtis was not ordinary - - - he had a different mindset. That evening Kurtis and Brenda loaded up the kids, went to dinner and the movies. When her son needed anything Kurtis would take care of him. When he needed to use the restroom, he picked him up out of his wheelchair, took him and brought him back. The kids loved Kurtis. At the end of the evening, Brenda knew this was the man she was going to marry and spend the rest of her life with. A year later, they were married and Kurtis adopted both of her children. Since then they have added two more kids. So what happened to Kurtis the stock boy at a grocery store in Cedar Falls/Waterloo, IA and Brenda the check-out girl?
Well, Mr. & Mrs. Kurt Warner now live in Arizona , where he is currently employed as the quarterback of the National Football League Arizona Cardinals and has his Cardinals in the Super Bowl. Is this a surprise ending or could you have guessed that he was not an ordinary person. It should be noted that he also quarterbacked the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI. He has also been the NFL's Most Valuable Player twice and the Super Bowl's Most Valuable Player.
****Kurt is one of the good guys and I wish him and the Cardinals all the best on Sunday. Go Cards!!!

Happy Birthday Big Boy!!!

Oh My Gosh....we were way to young to have three children already. I remember the Dr. saying..."It's a boy...a BIG boy." I was so sure that I was having a girl. Ha, Ha. I also remember having a thought for just a split second that I was never going to be a mother to a girl.....well, we all know how that turned out. Thursday, January 22, 2009

What I learned at dinner....
Tonight we had dinner at my mom's house and I learned a few things.
1. Toby is related to one of the 1st Minnesota.
Search from Benjamin Franklin Sanders
2. Granny dreamed of losing a little girl, in a snow storm, in San Diego last night. I love seeing her laugh. What a sight!
3. My big brother tackled Kurt Warner in a college football game back in 93 or 94. My brother played for Morehead State and Kurt Warner played for Northern Iowa.
4. Grace can eat 3 hot dogs in one day.
5. I love having my family here. My boys were able to have dinner with all of their grandparents and an Uncle from Mn.

A yummy recipe
My sister in law, Leah, emailed me this recipe yesterday. I was at Fry's today and they had their chuck roasts on sale...buy one get one...at $ 2.99 a pound vs. $4.99. So for around $7.00 I got two roasts.
There is no roast left over for lunches tomorrow, it was that good. I am sorry I didn't take a picture for my Project 365 I am doing. Anyways, here you go. Enjoy.
3 lb roast
1 can cream of chx soup
1 envelope onion soup mix
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 pkt brown gravy mix w/ 1 cup water
2 Tbsp soy sauce
1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
salt & pepper
combine all ingredients in crock pot except roast.Mix it all together.
place roast in crockpot and turn to coat all sides.
cook on low 8-10 hrs, high 5-6 hours or until fork tender and falls apart.
makes it's own gravy.

Zoo Lights
Last night Shelley, Kylie, Grace and myself headed out to Zoo Lights. We had a blast. There was not much of a crowd and most of the guests were families with younger children.

Being that it was not busy, Grace and Kylie taught Jengo the talking giraffe the alphabet!!
They even had 'assbobbers.
The best part of the evening was when we took a horse drawn carriage ride to an area that was roped off to the general crowd. Magic(yes, he is a friend of Jack) took us for the thrilling ride.
Thank you Shelley for a fun night out.
